Answer · Move-outs & deposits

How long does an eviction take?

The short answer

Timing depends on required notice, service, court scheduling, defenses, stays and enforcement. Build a staged local estimate rather than promising a nationwide number of days.

Map the actual milestones

List notice preparation, lawful service, any waiting period, filing, hearing, judgment and authorized enforcement. Confirm which steps depend on completion of earlier steps.

Budget for uncertainty

Ask local counsel or the court about current procedure and scheduling. Plan for continued maintenance obligations, possible vacancy work and delayed receipts without assuming the earliest possible date.

Example: service must be corrected

A defective service attempt can delay later steps or require restarting part of the process. Include a contingency in your cash plan instead of booking a new move-in against an unconfirmed possession date.
