Rentari vs Buildium and RentRedi for your rental work

Archive topic 2024
Two rental professionals compare folders, accounting records and a laptop beside a rental building and repair tools

The short answer

Use Rentari's current plans and completed rental tasks as your baseline, then compare Buildium or RentRedi on fees, accounting, signing, repairs and migration evidence.

On this page

Start with Rentari and your required records

Begin with two separate comparisons: Rentari versus Buildium and Rentari versus RentRedi. Write down property types, locations, units, owners, entities, accounts, current leases and users. Name the Rentari outputs you need to verify: resident balances, reconciled transactions, property reports, repair records and completed agreements. List specialized association, commercial or housing-program requirements separately; this guide does not establish equivalent specialist controls.

Rentari's Free plan offers listing, application and maintenance-request tools with limits; Free online collection is currently coming soon. Prime and Scale include online collection, accounting reports and exports, and included e-signature sends. Actual plan and role gates apply before executing a report or sending an agreement. Follow Payments Help to separate an outside-payment record, charge status and bank deposit, and Reports Help to verify the property, period and downloaded output. Review classifications and supporting records before using a Schedule E preparation report; software does not file a return.

A landlord tracking one owner's expenses may need different controls from a team distributing money for several owners. Compare each alternative's selected plan and accounting layer with the same Rentari task and record set. Rentari provides software and written guidance; owners arrange qualified work and licensed services. This is Rentari's original framework, not independent paid-workflow testing or a claim that Rentari or either alternative is best for every portfolio. Public terms and Rentari's plan gates were reviewed October 7, 2026.

Rentari Free, Prime or ScaleFree is $0; Prime is $120/year for up to 10 units. Scale adds $24/year for each additional unit. New paid subscriptions are billed annually.Free online collection is coming soon. Paid plans include collection, accounting reports/exports and e-signature sends. Eligible paid online payments currently cost $6 per ACH payment or 3.49% by card; confirm the permitted payer choice and fee before authorizing. Screening, optional services and other charges are separate.
Buildium Essential, Growth, PremiumStarts at $62/$192/$400 per month, respectively. Obtain portfolio and billing terms.Basic accounting/leasing/maintenance; Growth adds customization/reporting automation; Premium adds Open API. Growth/Premium require onboarding.
RentRedi monthly, six-month or annual termOne feature set: $29.95 monthly, $20/month billed semi-annually or $12/month billed annually. Advertises unlimited properties, tenants and teammates.Confirm separate payment, screening and optional service charges. The 30-day money-back offer is not a free trial; read refund and renewal terms.

Buildium's general rental pricing table lists incoming EFT at $2.35/$1.35 by Essential/Growth; Premium is free for 12 months then $0.60. Outgoing EFT is $0.99; cards are 2.99%. Bank setup is $99/account on Essential, with 10/100 accounts included on Growth/Premium, then $99 each. Signing is $5/$1 per document or included on Premium. Verify payer settings and selected terms.

The current association page publishes different EFT charges and included bank-account counts. These rental-table figures do not establish association pricing. Obtain a portfolio-specific written quote resolving the published differences before budgeting.

RentRedi's current payment help lists $1 ACH and 3.1% plus $0.30 for cards, including debit. Tenants pay by default; landlords can cover either or both charges. Check the displayed fee and actual account settings, including returns, refunds and other methods.

Build a full first-year and renewal-year estimate using the same units, accounts, payment volume, screening orders, documents, staff and required services. Keep owner cost separate from resident-facing fees. Include onboarding, partner products, training and human work. An included transaction category does not eliminate every cost or establish a lawful fee policy for the property.

Compare accounting outputs against your Rentari records

In Rentari's paid accounting tools, use the same property, transactions and reporting period to review income, expenses, deposits and downloaded output. Check plan and role access before running the report, and distinguish an on-screen view from a separate export using Reports Help. Save the reconciled inputs and file as the baseline for each alternative. This does not establish identical multi-owner, trust-accounting or specialist-program support.

Buildium's accounting page describes transaction ledgers, customizable accounts, payables, work-order bills, bank reconciliation and reporting. Request the actual property/owner/entity statements, adjustment controls and export formats in the quoted plan.

RentRedi's June 2026 Accounting FAQ says its built-in receipt/expense, mileage, P&L and Schedule E summary tools are included for all landlords. Categories, amounts and property assignment can be reviewed and changed. A Schedule E summary is preparation information, not a filed return.

The February accounting guide separately describes optional REI Hub double-entry accounting and additional reports. It still names Growth/Pro plans, while current pricing offers one feature set across billing terms. Reconcile the current included suite, optional integration and price directly; do not treat all RentRedi accounting as an extra purchase or assume the two layers are equivalent.

RentRedi's income/expense report help describes property/date filters, PDF/spreadsheet exports and optional prorating of unassigned transactions. Inspect those settings: an allocation option may change the property totals. Use identical periods and transactions, trace each result to evidence, and open exported files outside Rentari and each alternative. Ask your accountant which records and controls the actual arrangement requires.

Repeat Rentari's leasing, payment and repair tasks in each alternative

Record the Rentari plan, role and result first, then repeat each task separately in the selected Buildium or RentRedi plan. Request an authorized demonstration using fictional property facts, avoiding private resident data. Record the operator, steps, output and unresolved question. A public feature description is a research lead, not evidence that we completed a paid workflow.

For Rentari, check current property and destination availability within the advertised 25+ listing sites, then retain the live URLs. Keep report review and eligibility decisions human, check every required agreement signature, and distinguish tenant-authorized autopay from a settled bank deposit. Maintenance photos and messages organize the handoff; owners authorize access, arrange qualified repairs and confirm physical completion. No live listing submission, payment or provider transaction is established by this guide.

Listing and applicationPrepare one listing, confirm actual destinations and receive an application with a reviewed screening package.Live address/date, correct terms, package/payer and human decision; saved or syndicated does not mean published everywhere.
Lease and renewalSend a reviewed agreement to multiple signers, leave one incomplete, then complete and retrieve it.Required signatures, dates, attachments, final status and readable download; uploading a template is not completing an agreement.
Payment and adjustmentShow pending, settled, returned, partial and outside payments, approved corrections and a refund.Resident balance, bank result, fee payer and history agree; no duplicate charge or collection.
Repair and resident updateSubmit evidence, assign responsibility, arrange authorized access, obtain approval and verify completion and a bill.Resident updates, status, cost and named person connected; an intake tool does not provide physical emergency coverage.
Accounting and exportReconcile the same account and period, generate required statements and export records.Owner/property assignment, deposits, allocations, identifiers and totals match supporting records.
Team, phone and recoveryUse limited staff/resident roles on a phone, remove departed access and demonstrate a failed step.Correct visibility and recipients, usable controls, recovery and a named support route.

Buildium's Dropbox Sign leasing describes templates, signer order, reminders and status. RentRedi's signing help requires all requested tenants to sign before the landlord completes the counter-signature. Confirm document preparation, charges and required signers separately from the signing tool.

RentRedi's official app guide lists iOS and Android; the older no-Android claim is unsuitable for a current comparison. Demonstrate your essential mobile work rather than choosing by an old store rating. See the current Buildium and RentRedi reference comparisons for further sources.

Validate migration, access and support before cutover

Buildium onboarding describes formatting/importing property, unit, lease, owner, resident and vendor records plus tailored training. Get written scope for historical transactions, balances, attachments, exclusions, corrections, cost and acceptance; that overview does not establish a complete transfer of your accounting history.

RentRedi's lease-extraction setup requires review of property, unit, rent, dates and tenant details before saving. Extraction from a supported PDF is not validation against your complete records. Its bank-feed help says automatic history is limited to 180 days and describes a separate route for older expense evidence. Confirm supported history for the actual institution and integration.

  • Reconcile opening balances, deposits, pending payments and recurring charges with source records.
  • Account for open repairs, incomplete signature requests and upcoming resident messages.
  • Confirm invitations, account approval, staff roles, training and a fallback contact before changing payment instructions.
  • Test exports and document retrieval, including access and retention after cancellation.

Buildium's pricing FAQ distinguishes ticket support from Growth/Premium phone access. RentRedi's help advertises 24/7 chat. Ask each provider about current channels, scheduling and escalation; availability is not a guaranteed resolution deadline. If a separate coordination service is proposed, confirm who performs the work, authority, costs and exclusions.

Use FTC business privacy guidance to limit unnecessary data, access and retention. Inspect recovery, role removal and incident contacts. Verify connector data, permissions and failure handling; an included integration or AI tool does not justify unreviewed financial, legal or safety decisions.

Keep the decision and follow-up reviewable

Save current sources, matched quotes, selected accounting layers, demonstrated results and outstanding requirements. Mark each essential task confirmed, not demonstrated or unsuitable, name the follow-up owner and set a review date. Compare actual total cost and implementation capacity without treating feature count, a promotional saving or a review score as the winner.

Use the wider software shortlist and comparison directory. Review Rentari's current workflows and plan details: Prime is $120/year for up to 10 units, with Scale adding $24/year per extra unit and separate charges where applicable. Free online rent collection is currently coming soon. Advertised 25+ listing destinations depend on property and destination availability.

Rentari provides software and original written guides. Owners arrange qualified physical work, licensed services and professional review. This guide does not establish a completed migration, support outcome, universal integration or legally suitable document in Rentari or either alternative.

Common questions

Does RentRedi require an add-on for every accounting task?

Its current Accounting FAQ describes included tools and exports. Optional REI Hub is a separate accounting layer. Reconcile older plan labels with the current included feature set and verify the exact reports and controls required.

Is RentRedi available on Android?

The current official app guide lists Android and iOS. Demonstrate the essential tasks on your actual device; an older absence claim or store rating cannot establish current usability.

Does a flat subscription mean all transaction costs are included?

No. Compare payment and screening charges, payer settings, documents, optional products, onboarding and support with the same workload and renewal period.

Can a lease upload or bank connection replace a migration review?

No. Verify supported history and record types, review extracted data and reconcile opening balances, deposits, pending work and exports before accepting a cutover.
