Bring prior accounting records into Rentari

Choose a bookkeeping start date, opening balances and reviewed imports without duplicating historical activity.

Before you start

  • Keep the prior provider’s reports and account exports and confirm the cutover date with your bookkeeper.

Choose the starting point

Review Accounting settings and the bookkeeping start date. Use the chart of accounts and opening-balance workflow for the intended starting balances.

Set up the accounts

Link the supported bank accounts or create manual accounts. Use a statement-upload format accepted by Rentari; check whether connected activity overlaps your imported period.

Reconcile before relying on reports

Review imported and booked rows, deposits, loan balances and fixed assets against the retained source records. Run reports for the same date and scope and investigate differences before adding another import.

Check the result

  • The accounting starting point and imported activity are reconciled with the prior records.

FAQs

Does a bank upload bring over tenants and leases?

No. Rental and document setup uses its own workflows. A bank statement import brings supported transaction data into accounting.

Can I import the same history and also enter full opening balances?

Review the cutover with your bookkeeper to avoid double counting. Opening balances and historical activity need a consistent starting point.
