The short answer
Check your lease and the law where the rental is located before requiring an online method. Some circumstances require other options or accommodations, and automatic debits require an appropriate authorization process.

Check before changing the policy
Determine which payment methods the current agreement allows and whether local rules limit mandatory electronic payment. A platform preference does not override those requirements. Obtain local advice before changing an existing tenancy's terms.
Consider access and accommodation
Give clear instructions and a way to raise a problem with access or usability. Consider required accommodations and alternatives. Avoid treating difficulty using a portal as evidence of unwillingness to pay.
Separate online payment from autopay
Being able to make an online payment does not automatically authorize future debits. Use the correct recurring-payment consent and change process. Keep records of the instructions, authorization and any agreed alternative method.
Your next-step checklist
- Check current lease terms
- Check required alternatives
- Provide a support path
- Obtain proper recurring-payment authorization
