The short answer
A dedicated account can make rental records easier to reconcile, but the required account structure depends on ownership, management and local deposit rules. Separate bookkeeping does not replace a legally required trust or deposit account.

Match the account to its purpose
Document who owns the funds and who may transact. Separate operating money, owner transfers and refundable deposits in the records, then confirm the actual banking arrangement meets applicable obligations.
Reconcile transfers explicitly
Moving money between your accounts is not automatically income or an expense. Record both sides and identify owner contributions or distributions. Investigate unmatched entries before closing the month.
Example: one payment spans two rentals
A single insurance payment covers two properties. Keep the invoice and a documented allocation even if paid from one operating account. A separate bank account alone cannot create accurate property-level reporting.
Compare current account products without a universal winner
Choose from the account's permitted ownership and fund purpose, your actual deposit methods and required access. These named options provide an unranked starting list; official product information reviewed October 12, 2026 must still be matched to the particular offer:
- Bluevine: compare Standard and paid-plan conditions, subaccounts, activity requirements and the actual deposit banks. Bluevine identifies itself as a financial technology company, not a bank.
- Chase Business Complete Banking: check nearby branch services, cash/transaction allowances, monthly-fee waivers and separate payment-acceptance costs.
- Grasshopper: review the chosen Innovator product, signer/entity limits, opening deposit and current fee schedule. Its current table includes cash deposits at select enabled MoneyPass ATMs; confirm an actual location and limits.
- American Express Business Checking: verify current eligibility, funding methods, fees and any reward/bonus conditions, including which transactions qualify. Cash withdrawal access does not establish cash-deposit support.
- Axos: compare the particular checking product and savings offer separately, including transaction charges and any sweep agreement.
- Live Oak: match the current checking product, fee-waiver conditions, payment methods and user permissions; check savings interest and insurance programs separately.
- PNC: compare the selected business-checking tier's cash/transaction allowances and waivers with the branches and services you actually need.
Record maintenance fees, waiver tests, transaction/deposit allowances, ACH/wire/check costs, funds-availability limits, support hours and export access. For interest, verify rate tiers, qualifying activity, eligible balance and variable-rate terms. For a promotion, record deadlines, required new funds/activity, exclusions and payout timing. A high advertised rate or bonus does not establish the best operating account.
Check the bank, insurance and deposit ownership
FDIC guidance describes the standard limit as $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, for each ownership category. Multiple subaccounts at the same bank do not automatically multiply coverage. Verify the bank and legal owner, and include other deposits held in the same category when assessing coverage.
For a sweep or third-party platform, identify receiving banks, exclusions, allocation records and applicable pass-through conditions. The FDIC's third-party-app explanation distinguishes bank-failure coverage from failure of a nonbank company or difficulty accessing funds. An app logo or published maximum does not prove every balance is insured. Investment or treasury products can have different protection.
Check security-deposit/trust account titling, separation, permitted uses, interest and notices under the actual local rules and banking contract. A savings pocket named Deposits or an LLC operating account does not establish compliance. A dedicated account helps records; it does not itself create guaranteed liability protection or financing approval.
Prepare account information through the bank's secure process
Before applying, request the provider's checklist for the actual owner/entity and account type. It may require personal identity verification, business address, tax identifiers, formation and operating documents, ownership/control information and authorized-signatory details. An EIN does not automatically replace verification of the people involved. Provide sensitive documents only through the independently verified bank or provider process.
Confirm who can view, initiate and approve payments, recover access and remove a former user's authority. Compare statement/download formats and the proposed accounting connection's supported data and permissions; no provider list establishes a direct Rentari integration. Keep opening/funding approval separate from the review.
Rentari provides rental software and written guides, not a deposit account or deposit insurance. Use its bookkeeping workflow and report guide with actual bank records; a connected balance or imported transaction still needs reconciliation. No new account or transaction is required to compare the published terms.

Common questions
Do property subaccounts each get separate FDIC coverage?
Not automatically. Coverage depends on the legal depositor, insured bank and ownership category, including other deposits there. Sweep and pass-through arrangements have additional conditions; a budget label is not a new insured ownership category.
Does an EIN replace personal identity checks?
No general rule does. Request the bank's entity/account checklist and provide requested owner, control-person and signer verification through its secure process. Account approval and requirements depend on the provider and actual structure.
Does Rentari supply a bank account or insure the money?
No. Rentari supplies rental software and written guidance. Banking contracts, legal fund ownership, insurance eligibility and deposit/trust duties need separate confirmation; software records do not establish them.
Written and maintained by the Rentari team. Examples explain a decision; they are not customer results. This is general education.
