The short answer
It may be permitted in the applicable final accounting, but check the lease and local rules before applying a deposit. Do not assume a deposit automatically replaces the final rent payment or may be used during the tenancy.

Verify the balance first
Identify the rent period, completed payments, pending transfers, credits and any legally reviewed adjustment. Keep disputed amounts and other charges identifiable. An old dashboard total may not reflect an outside receipt.
Follow the deposit process
Check permitted deductions, itemization, deadlines and handling of remaining funds. Applying a deposit should create a clear accounting record and should not conceal an obligation to return money or provide documentation.
Example: the last payment is pending
Before deducting the full charge, investigate a transfer still processing. If it later completes, reconcile the account so the same rent is not collected twice. Follow the applicable process for correcting an itemization or refund.
