Choose a transaction type, transfer or card payment
Distinguish new income and spending from account transfers and bookkeeping adjustments.
On this page
Have the statement and supporting receipt. Identify the actual event before choosing a category.
Open the booking choices
Use Book for an import or Add transaction for a manual record. Revenue and Expense record income and costs. Fixed asset purchase identifies a purchase needing asset review.
Identify transfers and card repayments
Use Transfer between accounts for movement between your own accounts and Credit-card payment for paying a card balance. Check for an existing platform payout match before treating a rent deposit as new revenue.
Choose adjustments deliberately
Owner contribution and Owner distribution identify owner funds. Opening balances, depreciation and escrow expenses use journal review. Refund received or issued links an adjustment to an eligible original entry.
Review rewards and cash back
Check the statement and the source of the reward. A refund against spending and unrelated income may need different treatment. Use the supported refund adjustment or the category agreed with your bookkeeper.
Inspect the saved record
Check amount, account, category and scope after saving. Investigate an unexpected balance before adding another entry.
Check the result
- The saved entry is traceable to its source and uses the intended transaction type.
FAQs
Does a transfer entry send money?
No. It records movement that happened elsewhere. Collection and deposit returns have separate payment workflows.
What if I do not know the correct category?
Leave the import unbooked while checking the receipt and asking your bookkeeper. The type affects reporting; a convenient label is not necessarily the right treatment.
