Record rental income without counting it twice

Match the money received to the correct account, property and bookkeeping category.

Find the money received

Review Import feed and the relevant bank account or a manual transaction. Compare it with the rent payment or deposit reference before adding another record.

Accounting Import feed showing All accounts, Status Unbooked, search and date filters, and Apply.
Desktop reference: the accounting Import feed and filters in a read-only sample portfolio. The empty setup state does not show a connected bank or completed refresh.

Review the classification

Use the offered Book or Add transaction action. Choose the correct income type, category, property and unit and verify the date and amount.

Check the booked result

Open Booked and the relevant report after saving. Investigate another entry for the same money rather than booking both an imported deposit and a manual copy.

Check the result

  • The receipt is classified once and belongs to the correct rental and report period.

FAQs

Is collecting a security deposit the same as earning rent?

Different transaction types have different reporting treatment. Use the appropriate deposit or income type and review the report explanation rather than labelling all receipts as rent.

Does this bookkeeping action pay or refund a tenant?

No. Recording accounting activity is separate from collecting rent, issuing a refund or moving bank funds.
