Split a transaction between categories or properties

Divide an imported transaction into its actual parts, or use a percentage rule for recurring allocations.

Find the original unbooked bank transaction and prepare allocations that equal its total.

Open the original row

In Import feed, find the transaction and choose Split. Check the bank account, description and total.

Allocate the amount

Choose a property or portfolio, category and amount for every line. Add or remove lines as needed. The full allocation must equal the original total.

Save and inspect

Save the split and review the resulting entries. Resolve any error against the original row rather than adding another manual expense.

Create a recurring percentage split

Open Rules > Create split rule. Choose the matching criteria and expense or revenue. Set each category, property, optional unit and percentage. The percentages must total 100%. Preview before saving.

Correct an existing split

Use Undo split when offered and review its confirmation. It voids the linked split entries and returns the original import to Unbooked. It does not refund the bank payment.

Check the result

  • The original bank event is traceable to allocations that add up to its total.

FAQs

Which split should I use?

Use amounts for one bank transaction and a percentage rule when the same proportions apply to recurring imports.

Why can I not save?

Check the total, required categories and property/unit selections. A record with protected or existing bookkeeping may be ineligible. Reload after a conflicting change and follow the displayed reason.
