Build a lease agreement

Complete the agreement sections, review the draft and generate it for signature preparation.

Create the lease profile first and confirm its property, unit and tenants.

Have the intended dates, rent, deposit, utilities, rules and attachments ready to review in the agreement.

Choose the lease profile

Open the agreement builder and select the lease that needs an agreement. Check the rental, tenant details and current lease information.

Complete and save each section

Work through Lease Specifics; Rent, Deposit & Fees; People on the Lease; Pets, Smoking & Other; Utilities, Maintenance & Keys; and Provisions & Attachments. Use Save & continue or Save & finish, and check each saved readback.

Review the draft

Choose Preview lease and read the agreement. After all six sections are complete, choose Review & generate and review the document and any notes shown.

  2. Review the end date

Generate and check the result

Choose Finalize to generate the agreement and continue to the signer page. If generation fails, read the error and correct the indicated issue.

Review location and included attachments

Confirm the property’s state and the agreement’s selected provisions before generation. Read the resulting draft for your rental and circumstances. A location-specific starting document still needs review and does not guarantee that every local requirement has been met.

In Provisions & Attachments, list the intended attachments, then use the lease Summary attachment workflow to add the actual files. Reopen the prepared package and check the documents it includes before continuing to signature preparation.

If a required document is missing or incorrect, correct the draft package before sending. A filename typed into the agreement is not an uploaded attachment, and a changed draft does not replace a document already sent or signed.

Check the result

  • Saved sections show their recorded answers. After successful generation, you can inspect the generated agreement and continue to signer preparation; the agreement has not been sent just because it was generated.

FAQs

Why can I not generate the agreement yet?

Return to the builder overview and complete the sections it still marks unfinished. Save the current section and review any validation message before trying Review & generate again.

I typed an attachment name. Is the PDF included?

Attachment names describe the agreement; they do not upload or include a file in its signing package. Review the attachments from the lease Summary before sending.

Why are editing options different after sending?

An agreement out for signature or already signed has different restrictions. Read its current state in the builder and use the actions offered for that document rather than assuming an edited draft replaces the sent copy.

How do I confirm an addendum is actually included?

Open the prepared package from the lease Summary and inspect its attached files. Check the file contents and the generated agreement before sending; the attachment name alone is not enough.

Complete the builder and generate an unsigned draft

Local training data. The lease builder creates an unsigned draft for review. No agreement is sent or signed.
