Review a payment dispute or related bank debit

Find the original transaction and respond through the responsible payment channel.

Keep the payment reference, amount, date and any provider notice. Do not make another charge to replace an unresolved dispute.

Identify the payment

Find the lease charge and its Payment details. Compare the original payment, payout and disputed amount with the provider notice and bank statement.

Read the provider instructions

Check the response deadline and evidence requested in the actual notice. Contact Rentari support if you cannot identify the linked provider record.

Prepare relevant evidence

Gather the agreement, payment authorization, receipt and relevant communications. Submit through the designated secure dispute channel, not an ordinary public message.

Reconcile the outcome

Review the recorded provider decision and any debit, fee or returned funds. Check the lease balance and accounting separately after the outcome is known.

ACH reversals after a payout

A bank payment can be reversed after it appears successful or after the money reaches your bank. The money may be withdrawn from your account and other payouts delayed. Faster payouts do not eliminate this risk.

Consumer ACH disputes are generally possible within 60 calendar days of the debit. Business-account disputes generally have a shorter window, and exceptional returns can occur later. A shorter payout hold is not a guarantee that a payment is final.

Expedited payouts are not recommended if any tenant has a history of bounced payments. In Payment settings, choose Change payout speed to return to Standard. Changing the setting does not cancel a payment already processing.

Check the result

  • The dispute is tied to its original payment and any bank adjustment is reconciled.

FAQs

Will deleting the tenant charge cancel the dispute?

No. The original payment and the provider dispute remain separate. Preserve the evidence and use the provider’s process.

Why was money debited from the destination bank?

Compare the debit with the dispute notice and provider activity. Ask support or the provider to identify it if the references do not match; do not assume every debit has the same cause or timing.
