Set partial-payment and oldest-charge rules
Choose how future renter payments can be allocated on a lease.

Open the correct lease and review its unpaid charges and any payments already processing.
Open Lease Settings
Choose the lease in Lease Profiles and open its settings or edit view. Find the payment policy controls.
Choose partial-payment access
Set Allow partial payments, so roommates can split rent according to the collection policy you intend to use.
Choose allocation order
Review Require older past-due charges to be settled before newer ones. Save the lease settings and reopen them to check the stored values.
Explain the resulting choices
Ask renters to review the current payment message in Money. Existing processing payments and old accounting records are separate from the new policy.

Why can a renter no longer edit the amount?
Check partial-payment eligibility, the selected destination, current balance and online-payment access. Read the actual renter message before changing a policy.
Does changing the policy move an old payment to another charge?
Do not assume it does. Review the existing payment and allocation records separately from the policy used by new requests.
