Review a refused or cancelled screening request

Close an eligible unused request without changing the application decision.

Open the correct applicant and verify the source of any refusal. Do not infer refusal from silence.

Refresh the request

Open Screening report > Request follow-up options and select Refresh request status.

Rentari applicant workspace showing sample applications.
Use the applicant workspace to find a rental application.

Choose the follow-up

Select Cancel this screening request or Record the applicant’s refusal. Enter the reason or source within the displayed length limit.

Review eligibility

Only requests with no payment, payable checkout, identity session or provider order can close here. Read the restriction if another process has started.

Review and confirm

Choose Review request closure, inspect the summary and Confirm request closure. Reopen the request to check status.

Check the result

  • The eligible request records its closure and reason separately from the application decision.

FAQs

Does this deny the rental application?

No. The application and tenancy decision remain separate. Review them through Make a decision when appropriate.

What if the request already has payment or an order?

Use the supported recovery or support process for that existing request. Do not create a new request to bypass the restriction.
