Respond to a card payment dispute

Review the actual card dispute notice, deadline and evidence request.

Keep the payment reference, amount, date and any provider notice. Do not make another charge to replace an unresolved dispute.

Identify the disputed payment

Open the original charge and payment, compare its amount and reference with the dispute notice, and read the current dispute state.

Prepare the requested evidence

Review the response deadline and submission channel in the notice. Gather the relevant agreement, payment authorization, receipt and communications requested for that case.

Follow the dispute outcome

Submit through the indicated secure channel and inspect the recorded case outcome and any associated adjustment. Keep the original payment and response records together.

Check the result

  • The original payment has a checked dispute state, response requirement and case reference.

FAQs

Does deleting the charge cancel the card dispute?

No. Follow the actual dispute process for the processed payment. Removing a charge is not a dispute response.

Can I assume the disputed amount will be returned?

Read the case outcome. A response submission or evidence upload does not guarantee the decision.
